Alex is a bright, sweet, sensitive, and quiet 11-year-old who mostly loves to spend time on his iPad. He’s a straight ‘A’ student in school, amazing piano player, and in his 5th year of mixed martial arts working towards a black belt. But his true passion is public transportation.
Alex was diagnosed with PDD-NOS (Pervasive Developmental Disorder-Not Otherwise Specified) when he was 2 1/2 years old which is on the Autism spectrum. He is very high-functioning and most of the time we forget that even has a diagnosis. We really don’t like the label but we feel it’s important that he understands that it is part of who he is. It definitely helps explain his strong disdain for social events and his love of all things associated with maps and schedules.
I’m just a regular Mom who is doing my best to connect with him in all ways possible because I absolutely adore this kid.
